Organizes, plans and directs facility risk management activities. This includes establishing methods to avoid, reduce, or minimize risks, reviewing all risk management data, reviewing policies and procedures from a risk perspective, and preparing reports of risk activity.
Ensures state of the art data systems and accurate and reliable data acquisition including analysis and inter-rater reliability of data to support clinical and administrative decision-making.
Develops and oversees the department budget in conjunction with corporate goals and objectives. This position is accountable for meeting annual budgetary goals.

Identifies current professional and technical issues and their impact on lab practices.  Maintains current knowledge and skills applicable to job assignment through continuing education or professional organizations. Maintains appropriate accreditation by regulatory agencies. Shares new information with all team members, attends team meetings, and effectively orients/mentors new staff as requested.
Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, reports/removes unsafe equipment and attends safety education sessions.
