Position Summary:
Facilitate and coordinate the hospital wide program for Risk Management.
Essential Functions:
·          Coordinates and maintains the occurrence reporting system.
·          Monitors for trends that may be potential risk issues.
·          Maintains a system for the identification, reporting and analysis of potential/actual claims.
·          Maintains a consistent knowledge of the current status of risk management issues.
·          Composes minutes and follow-up correspondence for committee activities.
·          Develops, implements and reviews policies and procedures related to risk management.
·          Serves as a resource for information on risk management .
·          Maintains operational linkages with Safety Management and Performance Improvement. 
·          Provides educational programs related to risk management activities.
·          Assists Employee Health and Human Resources with actual and potential risk issues
·          Facilitates with the patient advocate and intervenes as necessary in the hospitals Greivance process.

Manages personnel in the accomplishment of designated goals and the provision of nursing care and services.
Manages the provision of adequate and competent staffing.
Evaluates effectiveness of care in producing desired patient outcomes. 
Addresses any issues that affect the desired patient outcomes.
Ensures that age and culturally appropriate care is given.
Ensures departmental compliance with regulatory and JCAHO requirements.
Monitors and adheres to annual hospital operating budget.
Implements cost-effective strategies in staffing and supply management decisions.
Assists staff in providing patient care and services as needed.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

qualification:
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, or a related field, plus five years of Health Information Management (HIM) experience; or, equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

primary purpose:
Manages day-to-day operations of record retrieval, birth certificate and study areas to ensure effective and optimal Health Information Management (HIM) departmental operations.
