POSITION SUMMARY:

Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Background and knowledge of information systems and/or specialized knowledge of the healthcare industry required. RN license preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Two to four years experience as a clinician or healthcare information systems professional requiring minimal supervision and having a demonstrated proven ability. Ideal candidate will possess two or more years experience implementing nursing documentation systems, preferably HED and/or HMS. Additional application development and/or systems analysis, including experience coordinating medium to large projects on own is required. This person should be comfortable presenting information to large groups as well as senior leadership.

Position Summary:

Must promote good public relations for the department and the hospital while maintaining patient/customer confidentiality. The Director of Cardiovascular Services applies and implements the philosophy, goals and objectives of Hospital.
PRIMARY DUTIES OF POSITION
1. Provides the necessary leadership to ensure the department and organization is in full compliance with laws, rules, regulations, and JCAHO standards.
2. Integrates the department’s services with the hospital’s primary functions as well as with other departments.
3. Implements procedures that guide and support this provision of services.
4. Provides sufficient number of qualified and competent staff recommended to provide services.
5. Identifies qualifications and competence of departmental personnel.
6. Assesses and improves the department’s performances.
7. Maintains appropriate quality control programs.
8. Assures that orientation, in-service, and continuing education is provided to all persons in the department.
9. Makes recommendations for space and resources needed by department.
10. Selects outside sources for needed services.
11. Professionally manages, with 24 hour responsibility and accountability, total coordination and direction of each assigned clinical area.
12. Manages and directs quality patient care by establishing and maintaining effective communication among nursing staff and other health disciplines.
13. Promotes good public relations for the units, the nursing department, and the hospital while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of an accredited Allied Health program or School of Nursing
Currently credentialed in discipline and in good standing
Experience:
Previous level of 5-10 years experience or 3-5 years of manager experience preferred
Certifications:
Must be registered in discipline {i.e. RN, R.T.(R)(CV), RCIS}
