Description

Unit Director generally reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and is responsible for directing and coordinating the Emergency Department in a manner reflective of the Hospital’s philosophy and objective for maintaining required supplies and staffing, and for acting as liaison between the Hospital Administration and the staff. Serves as the Nurse Administrator on-call ( as necessary) to provide leadership and management to personnel during the off hours.
Qualifications

Education:

•Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
•MSN Desired
Licenses / Certifications:

•Registered Nurse License
•BLS required
•ACLS required
•PALS certification preferred
Experience:

•Two years supervisory experience required
•Three years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment required
•Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given
•Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress
•Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communications
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public

The Registered Nurse consistently provides safe, competent, compassionate patient care in an efficicent and effective manner in collaboration with all members of the healthcare team.  The Registered Nurse is compliant with the policies, practices and procedures of the organization and is expected to participate in the ongoing professional behaviors established by the facility.
1) Effectively conducts initial and on-going patient assessment
2) Develops the patient plan of care
3) Must identify and communicate changes in patient’s clinical condition with appropriate members of the healthcare team
4) Provides age appropriate patient care
5) Works closely with all members of the healthcare team to provide timely discharge planning.
Texas RN License - required
BLS required
Other certifications specific to unit may be required
Bilingual English/Spanish - preferred
