POSITION SUMMARY
A. The Director of Nursing Operations has responsibility for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety, evidence based practice and well being of patients at GPRMC on a 24-hour basis. The DNO provides oversight to the core business functions of the division of nursing including staffing, scheduling and house supervision. Takes a leadership role throughout the hospital in the pre-purchase and post-implementation evaluation, acquisition, sequencing and implementation of clinical information systems and applications. Participates in the development, implementation and oversight of nursing process standards. Maintains open communication with all staff to promote a culture of learning and improvement in performance. Assumes role of House Supervisor as needed.
II. SUPERVISION
A. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Patient Care/CNO.
B. Direct reports include Clinical Education Specialists, Lead House Supervisor and Staffing Coordinator, and Clinical Information Specialists
C. Collaborates with all members of the health care team in the coordination of patient care activities for the role functions.
D. May report indirectly to other senior leadership responsible for specific function oversight.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. Graduate of Nursing Program, BSN/BA required.
B. Minimum 3 years hospital-based direct patient care experience
C. Master’s degree in nursing or related field required. MSN must have clinical/nursing informatics focus. Non-nursing master’s degree must have focus in informatics or information systems management. Significant IT project management experience (organization wide responsibility for major IT systems implementation) may be substituted for informatics focus of Master’s degree.
D. Current Nebraska State license as a Registered Nurse required or eligibility to obtain after hired.
E. Three to five years progressive management experience involving some or all areas of responsibility at manager or director level. Seven to ten years director level experience preferred.
F. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership to assigned subordinates
and maintaining effective contacts with patients, visitors, medical staff practitioners, and a variety of hospital and community resources.
G. Analytical skills necessary in order to organize and oversee work of subordinates, and develop/administer sound policies, procedures, budgets, and patient care practices.
H. Understands that employment in Nebraska is at-will, and that either the employer, or an employee, may terminate the employment relationship at any time and with or without notice or cause.
I. Job function must be performed on site with regular attendance.
J. Three to five years experience in clinical informatics with responsibility for application evaluation, acquisition and deployment.
K. Management of at least 2 successful major projects, one of which must have been an informatics project.

Hospital Pharmacy Director
The Department Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Pharmacy Department. Manages all activities related to Pharmacy Services for both inpatient and outpatient areas. Performs all aspects of managing, planning, coordinating, implementing processes in the facility to improve patient safety and daily operation of the department. The Department Director is responsible for departmental leadership, quality management, staff development, customer satisfaction and appropriate utilization of resources within the framework of established policies and procedures of the Medical Center. Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy.
Must be licensed by state of Nebraska as a Registered Pharmacist (RP) to perform dispensing/clinical activities. Five years experience in a pharmacy management role in which supervisory and administrative ability has adequately demonstrated is required.
