GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Administrative Nurse Manager (ADNM) is a registered professional nurse with global responsibility for the quality and continuity of patient care for specific age groups identified by the standards of care. The ADNM provides leadership in the delivery of care and nursing practice, both in the clinical unit and the organization. The ADNM is a mentor to the Clinical Nurse Managers (CNM), guiding them in the development of their skills and capabilities. The ADNM develops both unit activities and system-wide programs that support the elements of extending excellence. The incumbent adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. In addition, the ADNM participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Possesses broad nursing knowledge, leadership ability, accepts responsibility, exercises authority, and functions independently
• Posses insight for employee growth and development and the ability to do effective, impartial counseling
• Personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, understanding, integrity, respect, sense of humor, discretion, and confidentiality
• Professional qualities such as team builder, communicator, and innovator
• Effective communication with patients, families, employees, physicians, and Director
Knowledge & Skills Preferred:
• Minimum of two years’ staff nursing experience
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field, or education plan to achieve within five years
• Progressive nursing leadership experience
Education & Experience Preferred:
• Master’s degree in Nursing or related field
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
• Current, valid State of Florida Board of Nursing registered professional nurse license
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Preferred:
• National certification in specialty
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Scope of Responsibility:
• Independently demonstrates leadership skills through timely, appropriate decisions and organization ability with appropriate priority setting.
• Acts as a resource to the Bed Management department regarding patient placement, transfer, and appropriate clinical length of stay. Is responsible for assuring that patient assignments are based on acuity of patients and competency and skill level of staff.
• Provides a safe environment; directs patient care activities and document; gives patient care, as needed
• Performs investigations into accidents, critical incidents, and complaints of patients, visitors, doctors, and staff
• Assumes 24-hour responsibility for unit and takes call, as assigned
Compliance/Regulatory Responsibility:
• Supports the organization with participation on Ethics, Risk Management, and/or Critical Incident Stress Debriefing
Operating & Capital Budget/Financial Responsibility:
• Oversees fiscal activities. Leads department through the development of goals, budgets, and marketing plans. Utilizes resources effectively, through ordering, labor tracking, and budget planning
Performance Improvement Responsibility:
• Utilizes patient, physician, and employee satisfaction survey information in the development of unit activities. Oversees unit dashboards and creates action plans to support improvement. Develops Christian Services, diversity, retention, and satisfaction plans annually. Shares data with staff; involves staff in achieving unit goals through action plans. Supports the customer, physician, and employee satisfaction activities of the organization
• Participates in practice changes as a result of performance improvement activities and evidence-based practice initiatives. Demonstrates accurate documentation and monitoring or activities as needed. Refuses to participate in unethical procedures.
• Participates in teaching opportunities throughout the organization. Serves as a resource manager/mentor to other nurse managers. Acts as a lead in process improvement opportunities within the organization (beyond unit scope). Chairs a standing committee at the division or system-level. Actively participate in one or more committees at the system level. Responsible for planning and implementation of programming.
Community Relations Responsibility:
• Leads out in community activities
Staffing/Labor/Supervisory Responsibility:
• Independently directs and provides supervision of department employees. Monitors performance (evaluations completed on time), education requirements, and staff work hours; provides counseling.
• Maintains professional competency by participating in continuing education and appropriate learning experiences, both internal and external. Attends pertinent conferences and seminars regarding clinical nursing, business, or management
• Rounds with intention on the unit and establishes customer satisfaction activities on the unit. Is a role model for the Mission and Values of Florida Hospital; conducts unit meetings and activities that foster staff communication
