Job Summary: 
Responsible for the evaluation and treatment of all patients referred by a physician for speech language pathology services.  Administers and interprets standardized tests and develops appropriate treatment plans.  Utilizes a variety of therapeutic techniques, establishes and modifies goals as necessary to achieve the best clinical outcomes and assist patients in reaching their maximum level of functioning.  Assures personal competency and shares expertise and knowledge. Provides information related to departmental budget considerations in relationship to speech language pathology needs for optimum patient care and service.  Assists in scheduling of patient visits for speech language pathology evaluation and treatment.  Performs some administrative duties and assists in referral building/marketing efforts at the direction of the Rehabilitation Services Director.  Participates in departmental and organizational Infection Control, Safety and Educational Programs.

Qualifications
Education: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or participant in/eligible for Interim Permitee Nurse-Clinical Nurse Resident (IPN-CNR) Program at MHA.

Knowledge: In depth knowledge of nursing process in addressing physical, psychosocial, and psychological needs of patients. Demonstrates basic knowledge of unit specific age criteria for patient population.

Special Skills/Equipment: Successful completion of MHA’s orientation/90 day provisional program.

Unit Specific: Completion of unit specific orientation and competencies. Ability to write, read, hear, and verbally communicate in English to the degree required to perform the job. ABC’s of CPR. Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate.  In depth knowledge of nursing processes in addressing physical, psychosocial, and psychological needs of patients.  Must demonstrate basic knowledge of unit specific age criteria for the patient population. 

First Year Requirements:  EKG recognition.  TNCC, PALS or ENPC certifications.
 
Preferred qualifications: Baccalaureate Degree, and, National certification in area of specialty. Proficiency with: continuous bedside monitoring and Telemetry, vascoactive medications, hemodynamic monitoring and pressure lines, patients receiving mechanical ventilation. One (1) year prior Emergency Department nursing experience.

The manager is responsible for integrating their department’s services with the hospitals primary functions. The manager coordinates and integrates services within their department(s) and with other departments.
