In keeping with the core values, supervises patient care and directs operational and personnel activities of the Cath Lab/Special Procedures and CVOU Units. The Manager of the Cardiac Cath lab will be responsible to oversee the daily function of the Lab. The manager will update yearly and verify that appropriate minimum staffing and department goals are achieved as per the Scope to Service and Practice as well as the department specific Strategic Business Plan. The manager will represent the Cath lab at all Meetings, prepare all budgetary reports, develop all required policies/procedures & protocols, document monthly statistical summaries/variances and act as a liaison between the lab, other departments, hospitals, physicians and their offices. The manager will work with the nurse, senior technologist and educator to assure all staff competencies, evaluations and actions are documented and completed on time. The position reports directly to the Director of the CV Service Line.

Strong team building skills. Ability to develop a culture of respect and accountability through structure and throughput development. Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, physicians, families, employees, administrators, and the public under varied conditions. Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and critical decision-making skills necessary. Ability to demonstrate mature and responsible attitude when dealing with confidential information pertaining to Healthcare business. Technical Expertise: Completes job-specific competencies. Assesses non-routine situations and chooses the best course of action. Provides guidance to others to improve their clinical, technical, and professional skills. Maintains and fosters a  relationship with other service line departments. Aggressively promotes appropriate, cost-effective use of resources. Oversees and ensures effectiveness of staffing plans. Participates in new employee interviews and current employee appraisals. Performs other duties as required or assigned by the Director of Invasive Cardiovascular Services.

Requires two (2) years of Cath Lab experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN), and current CPR/BLS certification. Master’s degree in Nursing preferred. While the position does say a BSN, the Director is open to reviewing candidates with your background.

Description

Nurse Practitioner Pediatric Oncology/Los Angelos/CA

 Department: Nursing Support - Pediatrics

Hours: Full-Time/Days (40hrs/wk).

Our medical center’s nurse practitioner is an advanced practice nurse that provides independent nursing and collaborative medical management to a defined patient population, according to standardized procedures and in collaboration with a physician supervisor. Provides primary, secondary, and in some cases, tertiary care within scope of practice, licensure and organizational policies. Services provided include taking histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering, performing and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests and therapies and furnishing drugs and devices in a cost efficient manner for specific conditions. Emphasis is placed on health promotion, disease prevention and patient education, combining the qualities of both nursing and medicine. Acts as a health care resource and role model to staff by maintaining a high degree of ethics and integrity.  Inpatient and Outpatient services are provided through this position.

Minimum Education: Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program, which conforms to the California Board of Registered Nursing standards as specified in Section 1484. Bachelors Degree in Nursing. 

Minimum Experience: Three years acute care clinical experience in Pediatrics and 3 years previous Nurse Practitioner experience required in Pediatric Oncology. 

Req. Certification/Licensure: Current CA RN License and Nurse Practitioner Certificate; CPR Certification, PALS. 

Pref. Certification/Licensure: Current CA Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Certificate, ONS certification, APHON and/or SCAPHON membership preferred.

Manager of Infection Control/East Bay/California

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1.       Manages and conducts ongoing surveillance and documentation of healthcare-associated infections utilizing a priority-directed, targeted surveillance method; manages implementation of mandatory infection control standards, programs and regulations; collects, organizes and analytically interprets infection surveillance data.
2.       Develops processes to identify key critical infection control issues, methods and means to improve, and tracking systems to measure progress.
3.       Investigates clusters and outbreaks of infections using an epidemiologic approach; investigates, manages and conducts communicable disease exposure follow-up for patients and visitors using an epidemiologic approach.
4.       Works collaboratively and provides consultation to the employee health manager regarding follow-up for employees exposed to communicable diseases or conditions.
5.       Actively participates in multidisciplinary and independent environmental rounding; inspects ACMC’s environment and observes personnel activities for the purpose of detecting possible infection hazards and to evaluate compliance with hospital infection control policies; reports identified deficiencies to the appropriate manager(s) for corrective action.
6.       Monitors patient admissions and their placement to assure appropriate infection control measures are applied; notifies the county and/or state health department of patients with reportable communicable diseases per Title 17 and maintains records; oversees the hospitals role and responsibility with the Ryan White Act for first responders exposed to communicable diseases or conditions.
7.       Prepares, organizes and manages the Infection Control Committee; prepares statistical reports for the meeting; reviews, edits and maintains transcribed Infection Control Committee minutes.
8.       Meets with Engineering Department to discuss upcoming projects and to perform infection control risk assessments for all class 3 and 4 construction / renovation projects scheduled in our patient care areas; issues infection control permit for projects, provides infection control training to outside contractors prior to project and monitors project from start to finish.
9.       Provides infection control educational programs for employees, contractors and students mandated by regulatory agencies such as DHS, OSHA, JCAHO, as well as on as-needed basis and upon request.
10.   Develops an infection control risk assessment annually for JCAHO compliance to be approved by Infection Control Committee; actively participates in licensing and accreditation surveys including but not limited to DHS, CMS, JCAHO and OSHA.
11.   Develops and implements performance improvement and surveillance plans to be approved by the Infection Control Committee; attends annual training specific to the profession of infection control and epidemiology to be current with regulatory issues and infection control best practices..
12.   Provides leadership in developing, implementing and managing infection control and infection control-related policies, procedures and practices.
13.   Prepares and manages the annual infection control budget.
14.   Plans, supervises, coordinates, reviews and evaluates the work of staff in the Infection Control Department and trains staff in appropriate procedures.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:    Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or other related field from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree preferred.  Experience:  Five or more years’ full-time experience in healthcare at a large medical facility, at least two years of which must have been an infection preventionist required; one year of management experience required. 

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Current license as a Registered Nurse in California; or Certification in Infection Control (CIC) Certification,
Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) for non RN.  Valid California driver’s license.
