DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
1. Conducts health screenings and pre-employment physical exams to include health history, brief physical assessment and immunizations update.
2. Refers applicants with identifiable limitations and/or health risks to appropriate resources.
3. Offers health promotion advice and educational materials.
4. Conducts surveillance and follow-up of employee exposures to communicable diseases.
5. Plans, implements and conducts vaccination programs as directed by APIC, OSHA, CDC and other regulatory agencies.
6. Provides initial assessment of employee injuries and refers as appropriate.
7. Trends employee illness/injuries to identify safety and health issues.
8. Maintains summaries and written reports required for employee illness/injury reporting.
9. Conducts TB surveillance program for all employees, volunteers, students, contractors and other personnel.
10. Manages situations in a reduced risk manner; functions within the R.N. scope of practice.
11. Conducts new employee orientation in Employee Health as needed.
12. Demonstrates awareness of adherence to legal requirements pertinent to employee health and safety.
13. May exercise general direction over medical assistants, clerks, students and volunteers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities listed. Typically equivalent to: Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in nursing preferred. Experience: Minimum of two years’ employee health experience in a hospital/healthcare environment required.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Possession of a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of California. Valid California driver’s license.
