Emergency Dept. RN/Openings

The role of the professional registered nurse is to provide quality nursing care in collaboration with the medical staff and within the guidelines of the state Nurse Practice Act. It is the responsibility of the Professional Nurse to implement the hospital’s mission and goals through established policies, procedures, and performance improvement activities. Implementation of these goals occurs through organization and administration of individualized age-specific professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital. The understanding of the principals of growth and development will be incorporated to assess each patient’s age-specific needs and determine age-specific treatment modalities.

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or successful completion of the Foreign Nurse Qualifying Exam. Current RN license. Current BLS Heartsaver/Healthcare provider certification. Additional certifications may be required. Additional experience/training may be required based on departmental specific needs.

Description:

Assumes responsibility for the performance of routine, standardized biological and/or biochemical tests, as well as more complex procedures on blood, urine, tissues, body fluids and other specimens that assist physicians in the diagnosis and clinical management of patients. Assumes responsibility for recognizing results or problems that require referral to Technical Specialist, Pathologist or Administrative Coordinator. Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology preferred. Knowledge of specialized principles and techniques in Blood Banking which would normally be obtained through formal academic training and experience. Registry with a recognized board of registry for medical technologies such as American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and/or National Certifying Agency (NCA) preferred.
