Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and controls the clinical and administrative activities of Perioperative Services in accordance with the Nursing Department’s Strategic Plan; federal, state regulations and JCAHO standards.
Requirements:

Current   Registered Nurse license in good standing.

Five years of nursing experience with at least 2 years of current management experience.

Master’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Public Administration or Health Services Administration and at least two years of supervisory or administrative experience; or

Baccalaureate Degree in Administration or Business Administration and four years of supervisory or administrative experience

The Nurse Manager supervises Pre Op/ PACU units to ensure quality patient care.
He/She manages staff scheduling to ensure quality of care and delivery of services.
Maintains PreOp/PACU operations within the fiscal and productivity guidelines of CJRI, in conjunction with   Hospital and Medical Center.
He/She manages the human resources to ensure the achievement of department goals. The Nurse Manager is responsible for preparation of appropriate safety procedures compliance with DPH and accrediting standards,  and  ensuring staff training requirement/certifications are maintained.  Participates in the strategic and operational planning for CJRI.  Participates in decisions and implements changes related to PreOp/PACU.  He/She also demonstrates commitment to professional growth and development.

Education:  Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.  In depth knowledge of and ability to implement the AORN Standards and Recommended Practices for Peri-operative nursing.
Experience:  2-3 years experience in all specialty fields and general operating room procedures.  Previous management/ supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure:  Current registration
Skills:  Knowledge of supervisory/management techniques.  Leadership -acts as professional role model.  Organization; effective use of communication/IPR skills; ability to motivate.  Ability to adequately use, or learn to use, the department’s computerized system and its associated devices.  Cares for patients ranging in age from Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, adults, Geriatrics.

. Position Summary:

Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates nursing care and other activities of assigned unit(s). Areas of oversight include management of nursing staff and ancillary personnel, fiscal management and quality improvement initiatives. Holds 24-hour responsibility for the functioning of the unit(s). Serves as a resource for personnel and other nursing departments as needed. Collaborates with other health professionals to plan, monitor and evaluate client care. This position requires age related competencies. Takes additional call on a rotating basis. Performs all other job duties as assigned.

II. Essential Functions:

* Directs employee performance management (planning, monitoring, development, evaluation, and reward).
* Ensures quality of patient care through compliance of Standards of Care/Standards of Practice.
* Responsible for financial management of unit.
* Coordinates a unit based quality improvement program evidenced by implementing action plans that impact patient outcomes.
* Provides for ongoing educational opportunities for staff members.
* Provides support by acting as a resource to patients, family, staff members, and physicians.
* Holds staff accountable for responsibilities inherent in their position.
* Responsible for overall management of the staffing schedule.
* Collaborates with nursing instructors to maintain/improve quality of student rotations.
* Responsible for ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and JCAHO standards, as well as specific Standards of Nursing Practice for assigned unit(s).
* Implements, reviews, interprets and revises all relevant Integris Health and departmental policies and procedures; plan effective communication of changes to staff. Formulates new policies and procedures as needed.

 Description
 
Provides professional and technical skills and knowledge to ensure accurate and timely performance of microbiology services and reporting of results to responsible party. Performs other duties as requested. Reports to the Lab Manager and  Director of Laboratory Services.
Qualifications
Possesses the knowledge and skills necessary to provide accurate, timely testing of clinical specimens, preferably in multiple laboratory disciplines with strong background in Microbiology.
Good clinical judgment and problem solving abilities. 
Possesses additional  technical expertise in at least one laboratory modality. 
Possesses skills in leadership.
Good communication skills in English.
Current Florida Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Specialty License.
Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences preferred.
One year internship in Florida approved program or equivalent. 
Prefer 6 years of previous clinical laboratory experience in microbiology in a hospital environment.
