Job Details: - The Surgical Circulating Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care by utilizing the nursing process to care for patients within an assigned unit. Coordinates care provided throughout the hospital. Cooperates with other members of the healthcare team in meeting total needs of patients. Participates in patient teaching. Directs and assists in activities of ancillary personnel. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, plan, intervention and evaluation to ensure that resources of the Surgical department are used to provide for patient’s care, comfort and safety. Prioritizes, plans and organizes the delivery of comprehensive nursing care as provided by the healthcare team. Basic Qualifications: Current licensure to practice registered nursing in the State of California. Current CPR certification. Previous clinical experience in a patient car setting, with successful completion of orientation and training to the point of competence. Certification of standardized procedures for Operating Room/Post Anesthesia Care Unit within one year of employment within the department. Knowledge of hospital and nursing policy and procedure and the function of other departments within the facility. Basic Arrhythmia recognition. ACLS certification required.

- Maintains inter and intra departmental communication via phone, fax, computer etc. Maintains appropriate communication with radiologists. In depth knowledge of human anatomy, proper patient positioning and good
technical judgment.
- Adequate assessment and explanation of procedure to patient before testing occurs. CT protocols, biopsy and all other invasive procedure. Adequate history, consent form and lab values checked and documented before administering IV contrast.
- Proper protocol for filing and copying of films.
- Assesses and prioritizes a rapidly changing workload. Completes work in a timely manner. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment. Shares responsibility for organizing supplies, tracking, stocking and storing equipment and keeping the department clean.
- Utilizes personal protective equipment to protect from exposure to chemical, radiation and infectious hazards.
- Actively participates in department management by providing input at meetings and reading communication.
- Identifies, proposes solutions and assists in implementation of ideas for improvement in patient care and departmental / hospital operations.
- Functions as a patient advocate. Participates in the successful implementation of change.
- Decrease waste in supplies and equipment.
- Position is required to work on-call (stand-by) shifts and return to work as outlined in the department policy.

The Nursing Director is the leader for specified or assigned unit. Responsible for the patient population and assigned nursing and ancillary staff. Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the activities that take place on their assigned unit. Provide direction, support, and guidance to nurses and other staff. Twenty-four hour accountability for assigned unit.
Salary: $95,000 - $110,000
