CT Tech-Pool Weekends

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Completion of JRCERT approved formal program in Radiologic Technology.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Prior general radiology experience.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Two years CT hospitals experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Currently Certified and Registered in Radiography ARRT, CRT and CPR.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATION: Computed Tomography R.T. (R) (CT) (ARRT).

SPECIAL SKILLS: Good verbal and written communication skills necessary to understand oral and written instructions stated in radiological and
medical terms and to exchange information with patients and staff.
SUPERVISES: Functional supervision will be exercised over cross-training Radiology Technologists and/or students.

PRIMARY DUTIES
- Assists in evaluation of new procedures and equipment. 15%

- Performs proper billing/charging with hospital computer systems. 10%

- Uses CT equipment. Proficiency with general operating procedure i.e. start up procedures, calibration of equipment, troubleshooting, QC, preventative maintenance, malfunctioning equipment and problem solving.

- Maintains inter and intra departmental communication via phone, fax, computer etc. Maintains appropriate communication with radiologists. In depth knowledge of human anatomy, proper patient positioning and good
technical judgment.

- Adequate assessment and explanation of procedure to patient before testing occurs. CT protocols, biopsy and all other invasive procedure. Adequate history, consent form and lab values checked and documented before administering IV contrast.

- Proper protocol for filing and copying of films.

- Assesses and prioritizes a rapidly changing workload. Completes work in a timely manner. Maintains a clean and orderly work environment. Shares responsibility for organizing supplies, tracking, stocking and storing equipment and keeping the department clean.

- Utilizes personal protective equipment to protect from exposure to chemical, radiation and infectious hazards.

- Actively participates in department management by providing input at meetings and reading communication.

- Identifies, proposes solutions and assists in implementation of ideas for improvement in patient care and departmental / hospital operations.

- Functions as a patient advocate. Participates in the successful implementation of change.

- Decrease waste in supplies and equipment.

- Position is required to work on-call (stand-by) shifts and return to work as outlined in the department policy.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages all day-to-day operations to assure the efficient and effective performance of high quality diagnostic and therapeutic services for MRI, Diagnostic Radiology, Ultrasound, CT Scan, Radiology support services, and other mobile services as required.

Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and understanding of imaging services and activities, organizational management and technological performance.

Manages the employment function for all clinical and support staff positions. This includes primary responsibilities for the selection, retention, orientation, training, competency assessment (including CBOT completion), performance development and termination of Associates as needed.

Serves as a resource to  supervisors regarding staffing issues and the scheduling of human and materiel resources. Assures staff and patient scheduling is adequate to meet the needs of the customers and community

Develops and empowers  Associates to the benefit of the Associate and the Facility. Encourages and provides for ongoing educational activities, in-services and other opportunities for both personal and professional growth.

Is responsible for day-to-day collaboration between Medical Imaging   its Associates, Radiologists and the referring Physicians for Medical Imaging  Maintains positive and effective work relationships / communications with all healthcare team members. Collaborates to resolve conflicts promptly and to continuously improve services and increase efficiencies between modalities  Serves as a liaison to   staff, Administration, radiologists, the medical staff, the School of Radiologic Technology, Information Services other health care providers, facilities, consultants, vendors and customers.

Supports the Resource Manager as a contact to Radiology Associates  billing personnel.

Collaborates with the Clinical Director, RAF Administrator,  Facility Managers to develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures and standards to ensure efficient and effective operations, integration with other departments and services, and compliance with all organizational, professional and regulatory requirements.

Creates an environment that promotes excellence in clinical practice and exceptional customer satisfaction. Fosters and promotes professionalism, positive interactive behavior, team building and open and frequent communications with all customers. Collaborates with other departments and customers to solve problems, coordinate activities and facilitate organizational change.  Assists the Clinical Director and  Administrator in developing and managing the capital budget  Participates and supports the development and implementation of new programs, services and equipment.

With other  supervisors and managers, develops and manages the operating budget for   on an annual basis that optimizes gross margins while providing quality diagnostic and therapeutic services. Monitors operations / expenses in all cost centers relating to  on an ongoing basis to ensure adherence to the budget.

Assists with the coordination and implementation of new services and programs. Evaluates and resolves quality / performance issues in a timely manner.

Prepares and presents clinical and administrative reports to accurately reflect facility operations and processes.

Assists the Clinical Director and  Administrator in developing and implementing a strategic plan for Imaging Services that facilitates ongoing operations while integrating professional, clinical and technical changes.

Is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of  safety and infection control plans, radiation safety programs and ongoing performance improvement activities including participation in Root Cause Analyses  Assists the Clinical Director in maintaining compliance with all regulatory and accreditation agencies for the Facility including ACR, MQSA, ICAVL, OSHA,  .

Oversees Associate education regarding the  Compliance Program and serves as a resource to its importance.

Provides management support for other  Facility Managers during periods when they are sick or on vacation.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelors degree preferred.

2. Demonstrates competency in Excel and Word.

3. Registered in Radiologic Technology by the ARRT or an appropriate credentialing agency such as the RDMS (Ultrasound) or CNMT  (Nuclear Medicine).

          4. Four years relevant supervisory or leadership experience required.
