Oversees the development and implementation of risk management plans and activities aimed at eliminating or reducing care-related risks to patients.  Investigates significant incidents and coordinates necessary follow up.  Is responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to unusual occurrences, claims, lawsuits, and other potential risks, and for identifying and communicating trends and concerns.  Also responsible for developing and implementing risk assessments and staff education programs in the areas of patient safety and risk management.

Job Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field
-Five years Risk Management experience
-High level of analytical ability as incumbents must design highly complex clinical or administrative systems and programs or solve problems that require a state-of-the-art awareness of the methodology, technology, and literature in a professional field
-Exceptional level of communication skills is required in order to prepare and present persuasive presentations in high-stakes and high-stress situations, lead and inspire others, and represent the organization at the highest levels

Preferred Education and/or Experience:
-Master’s Degree
-Management experience

Required License/Certification:
-Certification in Healthcare Risk Management is required within two (2) years of employment

Organizes and administers individualized professional patient care using the nursing process. Is responsible for delivering care within the frame-work of standard of care and practice objectives, policies and procedures of the Health System and nursing unit. Familiar with and delivers care in accordance with the Health System and departmental Mission, Vision, & Values. Oversees patient care provided by all supporting nursing and technical staff as well as clinical staff, as appropriate. Responsibilities patient teaching, discharge planning and documentation of all care delivered. Maintains understanding of growth & development for populations served.
