ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops quality control programs, policies, procedures and performance standards.
Provides orientation protocols and training for staff, assures competence and provides the input and for staff performance evaluations/ carries out the evaluations.Evaluates new methods, procedures and equipment. serves as a technical resource to medical staff and other departments. Performs patients testing duties to meet the needs of the department.Manages departmental budgets involving staff and materials. May need to work overtime on more than an occasional basis. Performs other duties as assigned
JOB SUMMARY: Develops and implements policies and procedures to provide quality laboratory service and meet regulatory requirements. Plans, organizes and directs laboratory activities in accordance with hospital and department Mission, Vision & Values to meet customer needs. Provides adequate resources to support quality service. Prepares budget for operational and capital expenses and evaluates activity compared to budget plan. Provides continuing education, in-service, evaluation and counseling to ensure competency of staff. Establishes implements and enforces policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment. Ensures that quality control, quality assessment and improvement and quality maintenance programs are developed and maintained. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology Five years supervisory/management experience in clinical laboratory performing high complexity testing Post graduate training or education in management/administration preferred
