The position is responsible for the shift-to-shift activities.  The Clinical Coordinator provides leadership and direction in accordance with the organizational and departmental philosophy and goals.  The position will assist the Manager and Director in maintaining the highest level of expertise in the clinical and operational performance of the unit.  Requires basic understanding and ability to utilize the nursing process.  Coordinate the care of the patient through the nursing team model.  Participate in direct patient care.  Assist in the evaluation of clinical competency and identify opportunities for continuous performance improvement; contribute and actively support the pillar goals of the unit and organization; Incorporate standards of care and professionalism into daily practice; Assist in scheduling and assignment of staff to meet daily staffing plan; Communicate the needs of patients, families, visitors, employees and physicians in a professional and timely manner; recognize and escalate the signs and symptoms of heart attack, stroke and pulmonary distress; Integrate behavior standards and AIDET fundamentals of service into all work activities.

Graduated from an accredited professional nursing program.  Current licensure with the Board of Nursing Examiners of the State of Texas.  Current healthcare provider CPR and ACLS certifications.

Two years experience at the level of a staff nurse with skills applicable to HVC/CVICU.  Experience in leadership position desirable.

The Director of ICU / Telemetry is accountable for the effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and efficient patient care provided by the ICU and Telemetry units on a 24 hour a day basis.  Management responsibilities are comprehensive in the areas of leadership, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, communications, group process, service excellence, use of personal resources, control of patient and staff environment and budgeting.  Involvement is expected in educational endeavors for staff and self, as well as research applicable to patient care.  Management responsibilities actively involve staffing a variety of functions that develop professional accountability and improve performance.

Description
 
Plans, directs and coordinates the functions and activities of the Intensive care Unit and the Vascular Imaging Services considering to factors related to safety, quality, and cost in planning and delivery of patient care in the critical care environment.
The scope of work encompasses direct and indirect professional nursing care, in support of medical care as directed by medical staff and pursuant to objectives and policies of the hospital. Plan and directs age specific nursing activities, directs unit inservices and training to nurses and other ancillary staff.
Assists administration to ensure compliance with the organizations’ mission statements.
 
Qualifications
RN licensure required.  BSN preferred.

Minimum of 2 years supervisor experience in a critical care setting required.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BS in nursing or health related required, Masters degree preferred.  Min 5 years progressive Mgmt exp in healthcare setting including at least 2 years of Acute Care Director exp.  Knowledge of Florida Nurse Practice Act, JCAHO requirements, budget preparation and Mgmt principles, current nursing Mgmt theory and practices, infection control practices, quality improvement practices and Magnet Status Designation.
