Hospital offers a wide spectrum of services including a full service emergency department that is staffed 24 hours a day and a mobile intensive care ambulance service. The hospital’s Intensive Care Unit includes 10 beds (six critical care beds and four step-down beds). Other specialty services include inpatient and outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, pathology, obstetrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, intensive care, and respiratory therapy. Physicians in the outpatient department specialize in gastroenterology, oncology, orthopedics, pulmonology, urology and cardiology. Other outpatient services include sleep studies, nuclear stress testing, pulmonary function testing and a catheterization laboratory. Hospice provides care for terminally ill patients and their families. It is a hospital-based, physician-directed, nurse-coordinated home care approach to the special needs of the terminally ill patient.

JOB TITLE: Director of Health Information Management
JOB SUMMARY: Plans, organizes and directs the provision of Health Information Management Services. Establishes policies, procedures, standards and departmental objectives. Supervises departmental personnel and manages all functions including, but not limited to, birth certificates, release of information, medical record completion/storage/retrieval, coding transcription and utilization review processes.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education:
Graduate of program, at the associate or baccalaureate level for Health Information Management.
B. Personal Job-Related Skills:
1. Skills must include the ability to organize functions and workload for maximum productivity, provide overall direction to department personnel, assit members of the medical staff in carrying out their responsibilities relative to the medical record, adhere to established policies, rules and regulations
C. Licensure, Registry or Certification:
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
D. Experience:
1. Prior Work Experience: Three years in hospital Health Information Management, supervisory experience preferred.
2. Technical Training: Computer knowledge/experience using decision-making and statistical analysis software.
