Clinical Manager - Emergency Services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field, consideration of Bachelor’s degree in process in lieu of completed degree.
Valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Washington. BLS,ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC certification required.

Preferred: Master’s degree in relevant field, Business, or Healthcare Administration. CEN preferred.

Experience:
Required: Three years total experience or one year of Manager level experience in Emergency Services in an organization of similar size and complexity. Previous teaching/educator experience and supervisory experience at Charge Nurse level or above. Three years experience in ED nursing is required. Knowledge of current trends, reimbursement issues, and regulatory requirements as relates to acute/critical care.

Preferred: Five years total experience or three years of Manager level experience in Emergency Services or an area of equal/greater size and complexity. Education experience preferred.

Equipment/Skills:
Required: Familiarity with the tools and equipment in Emergency Services. MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and online application systems related to Provconnect, ProvCareers and Clinical related applications.

Experienced ED Director with strong team building skills needed to lead a growing department. Level III, 40,000 visits per year but getting ready for a $6 million expansion of the department. Currently 21 general beds, 3 Fast Track and one safe room. Average stay is 2-3 hours.

The director will be responsible for managing patient care activities in the Emergency Department. Directs staff in the Emergency Department, provides management of operational and nursing activities. Consults with staff, physicians and the Chief Nursing Officer on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met.

Requirements:

- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing and masters in related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 3 years management experience.
- BCLS Certified within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS Certified within 90 days of hire.
- PALS Certification preferred
- TNCC Certification preferred
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) Certification preferred.
- Certification for Emergency Nursing (CEN) preferred.

Reporting to the Vice President, Chief Clinical Officer, the Director of Emergency Services directs and coordinates all operations for the Emergency Department and Ambulance Services. The Director acts as a liaison between these units and other departments, physicians, administration, hospital patients, guest and the community. The Director is responsible for all personnel assigned to these units, capital and working budgets, supplies, general policies and compliance with accrediting agencies.

This is a level 3 trauma 25 room ER with 50 FTE’s just in the ER not including Ambulance. Volume averages 35,000 patients a year.

The Manager of Emergency Room will plan, organize and direct the operations of the Medical Center emergency departments.

Salary: $80k to $90k
