Monitors the unit specific nursing position control with Human Resources support and hires and maintains competent staff to meet patient care requirements.
•Responsible for monthly position control updates for staffing needs and relays information to CNO or direct report.
•Responsible for the monthly schedules for staff to patient capabilities.
•Hires and recruits nursing staff. Adheres to staffing policy guidelines.
Policy and Procedure process
•Participates as a member of the Policy and Procedure committee with annual review and revisions.
•Communicates with staff to ascertain policy and procedure development needs.
Participates in the development of the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Acute Care Services department which supports the care delivery model philosophy of MC
•Responsible for the compliance of the staff in terms or MC philosophy and goals.
Supervisory Skill:
•Maintains the department of acute care services functioning without excessive operational problems.
•Assigns responsibility so that employees clearly understand what is expected of them and the standards to which they are appraised.
•Establishes work schedules for all departments of responsibility and ensures that coverage is suitable for providing the department’s standard of care with respect for patient volume and acuity.
Staff Competency Requirements
•Assures staff compliance to all mandatory education requirements
•Assures that staff meet all departmental certification requirements within approved time frames and maintain certifications.
•Completes accurate, meaningful performance evaluations according to hospital policy.
Communication
•Conducts monthly staff meetings, at least 10 per year, with minutes documented and available to staff in a timely manner.
•Monitors staff attendance at mandatory meetings.
•Assures a two way communication system that connects between staff and customers and administration
•Method of communication demonstrates professionalism with points communicated in a clear and concise manner with evaluation of understanding of intended message,
•Holds staff accountable to communicate in a manner that meets the goals of MC.
Inter-departmental Relations
•Combines joint efforts with other directors to solve any problems regarding patient care, housekeeping, maintenance, supplies, scheduling of diagnostic procedures.
•Assures department involvement in patient care conferences
•Cooperatively serves on assigned committees
Financial Responsibility
•Direct accountability for budget creation, maintenance and revenue accountability.
•Assures compliance with charges
•Assures Staffing is appropriate to census and is adjusted appropriately to staffing matrix and acuity needs of the patients around the clock.
Quality Monitoring Responsibilities
•Assures quality of care provided with the department
•Ensures compliance with quality assurance policies, procedures, and data collection is performed with integrity
•Evaluates monthly core measures and national safety patient goals and corrective measures are identified and implemented as directed.
•Pay up to $110,000+

Requirements:
•Has or can obtain a License instate of employement
•Minimum of three years nursing experience required.
•Prior experience in specialty or skillset associated with position required.
•Registered Nurse able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.
•Requires physical stamina and emotional stability.
