Position Summary:
The Director of Nursing (DON) plans and monitors the delivery of quality patient care by the RN’s, LPN’s and Mental Health Techs. As supervisor of these staff members, the DON supervises the administration of the work schedule and assigns workload to the staff maximizing the strengths and abilities of the staff.
The DON serves on various organizational teams and/or committees and as a consultant to other departments. The DON monitors and assures the hospitals compliance with applicable standards, regulations and laws.
Responsibilities Include:
Development, implementation, monitoring and assessment the Nursing Services Plan of care
Management of Nursing Staff
Developing and maintaining organizational relationships
Development and implementation of strategic plans
Demonstrating leadership, teamwork and critical thinking skills
Maintaining regulatory compliance
Participating in regulatory surveys
Job Requirements:
A Bachelors Degree in Nursing required, Masters Degree preferred. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years psychiatric nursing experience and supervisory experience. Must have thorough working knowledge of health care nursing services with demonstrated ability to use skills in clinical managerial situations as a senior nurse executive.
Current RN license from the State of Florida and current CPR certification required.
Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to maintain effective working relationships, inter-departmentally, intra-departmentally, and with the medical staff. Must demonstrate the ability to organize, delegate and manage by role modeling the Nursing Team. Must have ability to communicate in both oral and written form and in a clean and concise manner.
