Family Practice Physician

 Weekdays M-F (Fri until 5 p.m.) - Attached Patients (24 hours) - FPs round on own attached patients.  Hospitalist only covers attached patients in special circumstances.
-  Weekdays (M-Thurs) - Unattached Patients 7 p.m. - 7 a.m. - FPs take call for unattached patients.  Call for new candidate coming in is 1:9. 
-  Weekends Fri 5 p.m. - Monday 7 a.m. - Five FPs take call for attached AND unattached patients.  Call for new candidate coming in for weekend call for attached AND unattached patients is 1:5.  Weekend call begins at 5 pm on Friday evening and ends at 7 a.m. on Monday morning.  Shifts are usually split between two FP’s -worked out among themselves.  For example, FP Doc A covers 5 pm on Friday evening, until 12:00 noon on Saturday.  Weekend call for FP Doc B begins at 12:00 noon on Saturday to 12:00 midnight on Saturday, then FP Doc A works 12:00 midnight on Saturday to 7 a.m. on Monday morning.  The FP group is very flexible with weekend call, so everyone gives and takes for harmony. 
Of Special Note:  There is a strong ED staff - FPs are called in rarely - only if the ED staff truly needs FP doc.  Frequency of being called in is extremely low.  ED docs will call and discuss the patient and admit on FPs behalf, unless FP prefers to come in.  Hospital has exclusive contract with ED group for six physicians and four Physician Assistants.  PAs work 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. shifts only (peak hours with ED physician).

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities listed. Typically, the equivalent of two years of college coursework in an accredited college or university with major course work in general education, health related studies in anatomy; physiology, sectional anatomy, pathophysiology, medical ethics & law and sonography specific to patient care; training at an approved school of Cardiovascular Technology preferred with supervisory experience or management/supervisory training courses desirable, as well as advanced training in specialized cardiovascular technology. Experience requirements include a minimum of five years’ experience in noninvasive cardiology, proficiency in all aspects of noninvasive cardiac testing with a minimum of three years in a leadership capacity.

Five (5) years of direct patient care experience as a health care professional. Three (3) years of management experience. Basic Purpose:

Networks with other facilities’  teams to help facilitate growth and development within    Maintains an open and on-going liaison with Ernst and Young as a source for information and updates on the  , as appropriate.
Assists the Director in the planning and management of the  budget.
Utilizes the performance improvement process to identify opportunities for improving outcomes in effectiveness, efficiency and value, time management, practical review planning, service operations and standards.  Collaborates with the Director to develop and implement improvements accordingly.
Responsible for monitoring and maintaining staff compliance to performance expectations.  Collaborates with the Leadership team in the department to complete performance reviews on the staff.
Performs all functions of the Clinical Documentation Specialist.
Participates and mediates in conflict resolution
Assists Director and physician leader in the resolution of customer satisfaction and quality issues.
Participates in JCAHO preparation/readiness.
Demonstrates professional and positive behavior.  Role models the mission, vision and values of   Health System.
Encourages and supports staff to participate in departmental/hospital task forces, subgroups, committees and projects, as appropriate to promote and enhance the MediCorp Health System mission, vision and values.
