This Executive Director works with the Vice President Quality and Patient Safety to provide leadership for system-wide efforts to continuously improve clinical care, service, operational performance and value at Boston Medical Center.  In collaboration with the Vice President Quality and Patient Safety, responsible for using data to continuously assess multiple aspects of organizational performance, prioritizing improvement efforts, establishing appropriate benchmarks and performance goals, and implementing educational programs in quality and patient safety. This position plays a major, direct leadership role in the improvement in systems needed to provide safe, effective, efficient, patient-centered, equitable, and timely health care to the patients served by Boston Medical Center.

Qualifications
 
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in health administration, management or a related discipline is required.  Nursing or Pharmaceutical background a plus.
Requires 10 plus years working in a healthcare setting. 3 - 4 years prior supervisory experience preferred.
7 - 10 years of progressive administrative leadership experience in quality improvement, and/or patient safety activities in an academic medical center or large inpatient and outpatient tertiary care setting.
7 - 10 years experience using electronic data systems and sophisticated data analysis in support of system-wide clinical quality improvement activities.
Excellent leadership attributes including positive, can-do attitude, creativity, and enthusiasm.
Demonstrated ability to develop new vision, create a strategic plan, and lead change.
Exceptional level of professionalism, discretion and the ability to work on highly sensitive and confidential projects.
Knowledge of current trends and best practices in quality improvement and patient safety relevant to services provided by hospitals, medical staffs, and integrated health care systems
Demonstrated ability in design and implementation of performance improvement activities in a health care setting including skillful application of continuous quality improvement and patient safety sciences.
Expert level understanding of the art and the science of quality improvement and patient safety.
Demonstrated ability to use statistical process control tools to produce significant improvements in the quality and safety of care.
Ability to inspire trust, build high-performing teams, and motivate them to work well together.
Successful track record of effective, team-oriented working relationships with physicians, nurses and other health professionals
Strong negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills
Outstanding listening, interpersonal relationship building and problem-solving skills
Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with demonstrated ability to complete projects successfully on time and within budget.
Demonstrated ability to support, encourage and mentor co-workers.
Excellent teaching skills
Highly self-motivated.
Demonstrated ability in budget preparation and management.
Highly developed skills using personal computer tools including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications
