Promotes rational drug therapy for Medical Center patients by coordinating drug distribution activities, monitoring patients for potential drug related problems, insuring appropriate drug therapy and serving as a drug information resource for patients, physicians, nurses and other health professionals. Requirements: Hospital pharmacy experience in unit-dose, IV admixtures, and drug therapy monitoring, licensed by the Commission of Pharmacy or eligible for same through reciprocation required. Annual re-licensure with proof of 15 continuing education contact hours as required by law. BCLS certification preferred.

Assumes responsibility for the performance of routine, standardized biological and/or biochemical tests, as well as more complex procedures on blood, urine, tissues, body fluids and other specimens that assist physicians in the diagnosis and clinical management of patients. Assumes responsibility for recognizing results or problems that require referral to Technical Specialist, Pathologist or Administrative Coordinator. Performs additional tasks as requested by Chairman of Pathology or his/her designee.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology preferred. Knowledge of specialized principles and techniques in Blood Banking which would normally be obtained through formal academic training and experience. Registry with a recognized board of registry for medical technologies such as American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and/or National Certifying Agency (NCA) preferred.
