JOB SUMMARY: Provides patient care by collecting and processing samples and performing clinical laboratory procedures. Performs and interprets quality control and proficiency testing procedures to ensure accurate and precise test results. Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration of laboratory instrumentation. Participates in procedure and instrument evaluation. Develops procedures for laboratory tests. Participates in teaching and training. May be required to work alternate shifts and weekends. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or; Associate degree in a medical laboratory science and at least three years recent experience in a laboratory of similar complexity or HEW equivalency exam CPR certification
