Job Description: 
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the administration and supervision of a patient care department.  They will promote the Professional Practice Model and Nursing Excellence initiatives including shared decision making, research, process improvement, evidence based practice, and evaluation of patient outcomes.  This position requires a knowledge of the behaviors, developmental stages, physical and emotional needs, life cycle changes, culture, and comfort and care appropriate to the population served.  Populations served by the department are identified in the department’s scope of service.
 
 
Job Qualifications: 
The qualified candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Florida. A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required; a  Master’s degree is encouraged. A minimum of 3-4 years of recent progressive experience in nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which compatible job knowledge can be acquired is strongly preferred. Candidate must show prior experience in ongoing competence in leadership and management skills including finance/budgeting, computer applications, and organizational theory. 
 
Effective participation in nursing continuing education programs is encouraged.  All candidates must have the ability to provide leadership and direction to a large, diverse staff.  As appropriate for specified department needs, candidate could be required to perform CPR and maintain BLS.
