Med Tech or MLT, work as a generalist in the MCW Laboratory on second shift. Rotates weekends and holidays.

Responsible and accountable for implementing, directing, communicating, and documenting the nursing process in accordance with current established standards of care and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act. Evaluates referred patients for swallowing and communication disorders using standard tests and videofluoroscopy. Recommends and establishes treatment programs. Provides treatment and therapy to patients with speech, language, and cleft lip and palate disorders. Prepares reports as required. Coordinates care with school and community agencies as needed. Participates in QA & I and works as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Must be certified and licensed to practice in Floirida Two years experience of clinical experience in a hospital setting is required including experience with cleft lip/palate disorders

Organizes and administers individualized professional patient care using the nursing process. Is responsible for delivering care within the frame-work of standard of care and practice objectives, policies and procedures of the Health System and nursing unit. Familiar with and delivers care in accordance with the Health System and departmental Mission, Vision, & Values. Oversees patient care provided by all supporting nursing and technical staff as well as clinical staff, as appropriate. Provides patient care including therapeutic exercises, modalities, gait and transfer training to improve patients’ functional level. Performs initial evaluation of new patients and develops plan of care. Establishes long and short-term goals for patients. Maintains daily records of treatment and completes necessary patient care reports. Oversees PTA, Athletic Trainer and Physical Medicine/Rehab Tech, as appropriate.

JOB SUMMARY Performs all functions of pharmaceutical care including medication and IV orders. Evaluates for appropriate drug, dose, allergies, interactions, and incompatibilities. Monitors levels of therapeutic drugs. Performs and supervises computer data entry related to patient profil. Monitors all medication dispensing for accuracy. Supervises filling of all presciptions and provides appropriate patient counseling.
