OB SUMMARY: Under the direction of and as an assistant to the Occupational Therapist, administers occupational therapy services in the hospital setting by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Completes orthopedic ADL evaluations as ordered. Assists in evaluation of clients’ daily living skills and capacities to determine extent of abilities and limitations. Assists in planning and implementing educational, and recreational programs and activities established by registered Occupational Therapist, designed to restore, reinforce, and enhance task performances, diminish or correct pathology, and to promote and maintain health and self-sufficiency. Designs and adapts equipment and working/living environment. Fabricates splints and other assistant devices. Carries out general activity program for individuals or groups on CIR. Assists in instructing patient and family in home programs as well as care and use of adaptive equipment. Observes patients during treatments and compiles and evaluates data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress, providing timely documentation of such in the medical record. Performs clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephone, taking messages, and filling out forms. Participates in community programs as appropriate. Participates in performance improvement activities.
